Small Group Offerings

Spring open

Jesus established a rythym of life for us that we try to model in our church.  We practice times of activity and then times of rest.

A complete list of our small group catalog is available in church or just contact us through the home page and we will email you our catalog.

Summer: We take a break from small groups

Fall: Begins in mid-September

Looking for an Online Small Group?

Pastor Ron is beginning a new facebook group that will be using the Lenten Devotional book, The Sanctuary for Lent 2020.  The devotional book is available for free at Brookside, Trinity, Calvary, or Zion UMCes or it can be ordered at  A link is available when you join the group.

Join the group by searching from your Facebook page for: JUMP Lenten Devotional Group and then ask to join.  We'll get back to you within 24 hours.  The study runs from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday.

JUMP is an acronym for Jackson United Methodist Partnership and is a group of five UM Churches in Jackson that do a variety of ministry projects together to share the love and grace of Jesus to the community.

More About Our Basecamps...

Our Basecamps are offered on a regular basis.  They are one day, small group experiences.  You can contact the church or check out our display as you enter the church building for details of when and where the next class is being offered.

Trailhead: Basecamp 1

This is the foundational class for all the basecamp experiences.  The goal is to bust some of the myths about church, faith, and the life that we all have.

Why are we here?  Is God real?  Does it matter?  Why should I go to church?  Life is filled with questions and how we answer them for ourselves makes all the difference in our lives.  What we thought and believed a few years ago may not seem relevant or correct today.  This basecamp looks at the big questions about life, faith, church, and gives you a chance to ask your own questions and begin to explore the most important questions we can ask.

11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

·         1 Corinthians 13:11

Basecamp 2: Dive Deeper

Teach people five things every follower of Christ needs to focus on:

·         Connect with God regularly through spiritual disciplines

·         Connect with Other believers regularly through small group/mentor

·         Connect your spiritual gifts with a ministry (Base Camp 3)

·         Connect with someone outside the church and invest in them spiritually (Base Camp 4)

·         Connect to the Spirit and always be ready to do the next thing God leads you to do (Living Life in the Spirit)

Are you happy with your spiritual life?  If you are like most people then the answer is, “No, not really…I wish it were better.”  Every person has a unique spiritual style that helps them connect naturally with God.  Many people have been forced into styles that don’t fit and so they feel disconnected from God/Church.  In this Basecamp Experience you will discover nine spiritual styles and which one you can use to most naturally connect with God.  You will also discover how imbalance in your spiritual life can impede your relationship with God and others and discover how to grow toward a radical balance in your spiritual life.  Join us as we move toward passion, balance, and maturity in our spiritual journey together.

CORE SCRIPTURE: “The Jesus Rule”

30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[g]There is no commandment greater than these.

·         Mark 12:30-31

Basecamp 3: Discover Your Gifts

OBJECT:  We are called to love God with our head, hands, and heart.  This basecamp experience is designed to help people discover their gifts so they can put their “hands” into a real ministry.

Ever wonder why God put you here?  Of course, we all have.  The secret of life is to discover your gift.  The purpose of life is to use it to build the Kingdom of God, to do good in the world.  In this basecamp experience you will discover your gift and how God wired you to use your gifts for a specific purpose.

Persons should take the ASSESSME Profile before taking this class for maximum benefit.  Click the button to the left to take the assessment.

10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

·         1 Peter 4:10

Basecamp 4: The Summit

OBJECT:  Our spiritual jouney never ends but as we focus on living each day glorifying God and we grow in our faith we will inevitably need to take on leadership roles either at home, work, or in the church.  This basecamp differs in several ways from the previous camps.

  • You must have attended all three of the previous camps to be in this one
  • This camp is not a one-day event but a series of weekly training sessions
  • This group is designed to help you develop your leadership and people skills

11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

·         Ephesians 4:11-15
